Polyurethane Accu-Rise Valve Box System saves municipalities and road building contractors thousands of dollars in paving and up to 80% in maintenance and repair.
Gwinn Mich. – April 5, 2010 – Argonics, Inc. one of the world's largest producers of castable polyurethane elastomers serving the construction market, announces the new Accu-Rise Valve Box System (VBS). The Accu-Rise VBS (patent pending) delivers a revolutionary product and process to the road paving industry, solving a perennial paving problem of achieving maximum compaction around utility access locations.
According to Dave Puskala, Chief Operating Officer for Argonics, "Utilities accesses, especially valve box systems, are a chief consideration and constraint in efficient paving and road building. Matching a utility valve box access casting elevation to the finished elevation of the HMA is a major challenge. Contractors face significant work and expense to achieve proper valve box positioning, soil compaction and road surface finishing. The current multi-step process adds time and cost to every public works job. Accu-Rise VBS solves this problem."
Accu-Rise Valve Box System’s urethane materials and unique installation process give public works superintendents and road building contactors a next-generation solution for handling utility access locations in road building and repair. The Accu-Rise solution achieves maximum compaction, the fastest install and finishing process, and the lowest long term maintenance cost in the industry.
The Accu-Rise Valve Box System revolutionizes road building and maintenance because it combines three major breakthrough technologies:
When combined together, this installation process yields a reduction in time and in paving processes and up to an 80% savings in future maintenance.
With the Accu-Rise process and system, compactions are carried out using standard heavy compaction equipment, resulting in compaction densities not otherwise achievable. The Accu-Rise process enables the paver to place multiple layers of HMA quickly, for dramatically more efficient project management. Tack coats can be eliminated. Remobilization costs can be eliminated. None of the underlying support casings or materials need to be disturbed with the Accu-Rise System. And, in the event of long-term shrinkage and settling, five-minute micro adjustments can be made with simple hand tools. The result is a process that significantly lowers overall costs. Furthermore, the installation unit and surrounding zone easily meet normal National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) ride-control measurement and standards.
The City of Marquette, Michigan is a user of the Accu-Rise VBS. "In recent reconstruction projects using the old style cast iron valve boxes, the old style caps get pulled out of the casting by traffic. We also get constant complaints of noisy tops which require many man hours to correct. With the Accu-Rise System, there have been no such problems to date," states Mark Trembath, the City’s Water Distribution Supervisor.
For contractors, The Accu-Rise VBS offers excellent advantages over traditional castings. Contactors can dramatically reduce project cost because there are minimal work flow interruptions between the compacting and paving phase to adjust valve boxes. Furthermore, there is very little risk of project payment delays or non-compliance penalties for out-of-spec valve boxes.
For municipalities, the system offers a far superior long term solution. Accu-Rise delivers a seamless installation, creating a forever smooth, bump-free ride. And polyurethane composition means no more clicking as traffic travels over the unit. Finally, Accu-Rise can be easily micro-adjusted downward after installation should settling of the asphalt ever occur.
The Accu-Rise VBS is available for road projects across the country. The system is supported by a network of installation contractors. Accu-Rise VBS comes with a ten-year product guarantee.
